I do believe however, that the previous owner had an aftermarket alarm since I found a backup battery up under the rear hat rack wired into the trunk light which I removed....and I have problems with the alarm self-activating after 15 min. (just sitting alone in the garage) when I initially bought the car, but had this fixed under warranty by a BMW dealer.
