Tonight I went to my CSi and recreated the exact same problem as you described:

- lock the car via the remote key fob
- use the key to unlock the door
- the alarm goes off!
- use the remote key fob to turn the alarm off

Then I consulted with a friend who shared that this is indeed the case. It's suppose to be a 'double' security feature.
