Dave,

You probably have a pinhole in it. On a car your age, that plastic tank might be on its last legs as we speak. The safest fix is to go ahead and replace it (its inexpensive *relatively, of course* and easy to install). The tank gets fairly pressurized and can turn that pinhole into a 4" long split down the side, making for a quick exit of all your coolant. We all know what that can lead to...fortunately I was a 1/4 mile from the house when it happened to me.

Does the canister where the antifreeze is put into the radiator have a leak hole? Does the excess antifrezze leak out above the line. I had antifreeze leak from the canister from a small like pin hole. Is this normal or do I have to get a new canister?

Thanks to all who respond.
