I think you paid too much for the thermostat! I had mine replaced after the engine overheated due to the water pump going bonkers. It cost me around $20-$30 only...maybe less. Don't let your mechanic buy your parts. Get your parts yourself and pay them for their labor.


: I just replaced the T-Stat on my 90 735iL. My mechanic said he has seen a lot of them need replacing lately on the 8-12 year old BMWs. The good news is that its easy to replace. The bad news is they cost about $80.00. Good luck

: : My 92 735i warms up ok (1/2 on temp) if I drive slowly in the city. When I speed up on the highway the temp goes down to 1/4. The temp goes back up after driving in the city. Is this normal? Do I have a stuck thermostat or??
