Thank you for the information. I'm going to go with the Bentley. I am so glad I found this Board. It's been a big help already. The trip odometer on my '89 735iL keeps resetting to 0 each time the ignition is turned off. Thanks to this Board, I know its probably a sign of capacitors starting to fail and I'll be able to do the repair when it becomes necessary.

: I have both manuals and that sorry &*()%* Popular Mechanics CD-Rom. Here's my 2 cents. The Popular mechanics is only good for the electrical schematics. If you order the original BMW Service manual, you have to order the electrical troublshooting guide seperately so it may be more than $145. The Bentley has both included at a lower price and gives you some hints as far as what is going on with your car. To me, it's easier to read. Also, the original manual is a copy made from some microfiche and some of the pictures don't come out clear. If you are a visual person like me, that hurts. My personal suggestion is to go with the Bentley Manual and this board. Between the two, you should be able to get through anything.

: : I see that Bentlye now has a 7 series manual. How does that compare with what is represnted to be the original BMW 7 series service manual which I see offered for sale on the Web for $145?
