I was told by my mechanic that you couldn't replace the center bearing and to just buy a new or remanufactured driveshaft, but the bearing can obviously be replaced or one could not buy a remanufactured driveshaft. Perhaps others can comment. But, like Morty says, the ends and transmission mounts are probably on their last legs if the center bearing is gone, so just do all at the same time. I replaced the driveshaft with a new one on my former 735 a few years ago at about 135,000 miles, and had to do the same thing on my 750 at about the same mileage. About $700 total.
I have a vibration (thumping) when i start out right between the seats and it goes away once I'm in 3rd gear. From talking to people it seams that it is probably the center bearing on the drive shaft. Can I asumme this is it and buy the bearing , which is only 88 dollars and have my own mechenic install , which he can and save a bundle over the dealer cost to install 400 to 500 at dealer.
