Not at all, $8-9K will get you one if you look around. I got my 88 with 143K miles nearly 2 years ago off of the internet for $5.5K and it had had most of the espected to fail parts replaced. It is the first BWM I have ever owned with a dry engine. Try to buy so you can spend the $2K without crossing the kbb.com trade-in value. These cars have few buyers but more than for the L model because of thier potential higher maintance. Best of luck.
I've been doing some research and I'm considering a 1990-1992 BMW 735i as my next car. I hope this doesn't sound blasphemous, but I'm not wanting to pay five figures. Searching Autotrader.com and Classifieds2000 I've ran into what appears to be many nice examples for between $8K and $9K, which is my target range. I checked Edmunds.com and this price range also falls within the trade-in vaule and market value, save maybe the '92. I'm expecting a car with 100K+ miles, but I don't want a beater with leaking everything. I'm after a nice looking car with few problems, maybe even a basis for a few performance upgrades. My question is, am I expecting too much for too little?
Thanks,
Patrick
