I've been doing some research and I'm considering a 1990-1992 BMW 735i as my next car. I hope this doesn't sound blasphemous, but I'm not wanting to pay five figures. Searching Autotrader.com and Classifieds2000 I've ran into what appears to be many nice examples for between $8K and $9K, which is my target range. I checked Edmunds.com and this price range also falls within the trade-in vaule and market value, save maybe the '92. I'm expecting a car with 100K+ miles, but I don't want a beater with leaking everything. I'm after a nice looking car with few problems, maybe even a basis for a few performance upgrades. My question is, am I expecting too much for too little?

Thanks,

Patrick
