About a week ago my door started popping really loud when opening or closing it. I checked it and it really was not dry. Now it does not click into different positions but just does nothing.

Has any one replaced one of these? Do you just remove the door interior covering? Do you know if they are the same on all 4 doors or they rear and front or right and left specific? If they are expensive I may go for a passage or rear door used one. Share any experience please.

I had had my mechanic check it out and aren't familiar with all the details but... it was the spring loaded tensioner that is attched to the frame of the car at the front of the door and goes into the door itself. This piece of metal snapped. He took the door panel off to get at it, removed it and had it welded and reinstalled it. I believe it was about $50-75 in total-labor and welding
