I have had a similar problem with my 88 735i. My problem has been that the mirror tilts down only occasionaly. I have made sure that the mirror selector switch is in the correct possition, but still no difference.

I have a 92 735i, the passenger electric mirror doesn't tilt down or up and is slow to move in and out. Is it the motor or could it be something else?

Well I fixed mine with little troubleshooting. The dealer wanted entirely too much money to diagnose and fix it. I took the task on and solved it myself. Come to find out the reason why it wouldn't dip down or power up or down was simply because the previous owner must of had the motor burn out and replaced the entire mirror with a non memory mirror which has only 4 wires coming to it not the required 10 wires.
