So I am bringing in my 1993 740i tomorrow for an Oil Change and a resetting of the SRs system. I was initially impressed over the phone with these guys when they said they have the equipment(computer) to reset my SRs system. They also went on to say they were equipped to fully service 2000 models.
We got to talking and asked me if my engine was original or replaced. Good question, thumbs up. We went on to talking about the problem with the blocks and after about 5 minutes, he says that I know more than him about the problem after it just came his attention a month ago when he admittedly put a woman through expensive repairs for a rough idle and then at wits end, found out about the problem after calling many BMW dealers who did not own up to the blobk problem.
He did note that his machine had errored in the leakdown test.
I was very impressed with the shop and their knowledge, but am still wondering how they could have not known about the block problems up until a month ago.
They only servie BMW, Mercedes, Volvo and Audi. Should they have known about this sooner?
Comments??
