Radio intermittend sound (archive)

I have a 91 E32 with 305 000 km on the clock. Still doesnt use a drop of oil. Have however replased many other electrical stuff. My current problem is that the radio has lost sound and the sound only returns briefly sometimes. The radio is on and I tested the output channels at the back of the radio with an external speaker and got poerfect sound. It is a Becker Mexico radio/tape. I seems to me that I have an earth problem on the speaker or amplifier system. Please suggest what I can do.
