What Is Cost Of V-12 Head Gasket Fix? (archive)

My '93 750 has coolent in crankcase and the heads have to come off. The dealer just quoted me $4500 for the most minimal possible fix: pull the heads, the problem is in the gasket or the bolts and and not in the heads or the block, so the heads just go back on with new bolts and gaskets. Dealer claims the parts alone are $1600. Has anyone out there had similiar work done and how much did it set you back?
