I had the exact same problem last week and the board helped me out. I simply took out the switch and dunked it repeatedly into a small clear tupperware bowl filled with hot soapy water until the water stayed relatively clean. I didn't want to take the chance of opening it up and having springs go everywhere. I let it dry out thoroughly, for about 30 minutes (I live in Arizona), and tested it. I made sure that when I tested I left the transmission mode in economy mode just in case something went wrong later. I took the switch out and lubricated it and stuck it back in. Works like new.
92' 750's overdrive has been working just fine all the sudden the car does not start at the Economy "E" mode nor does it shift into the "E" ode. The vehicle starts in the "M" mode. When I try shifting into the "E" mode it shift but does not hold the overdrive mode. Additionaly the dash does not show "E" when I hold the overdrive switch. When I release the switch it goes back to the "M" mode.
Any ideas?
