88 735I - Need help pulling the dash to replace broken controllers that control the A/C vents opening and closing
I have a 88 735I and the controllers that open and close the center front vents in the dash have come loose of their assembly and are not properly opening and closing the vents for A/C etc. A friend of mine at the dealer said the dash has to come out and a new piece that holds these controllers will need to be installed. He indicated that this is a common problem on these units and that it normally takes about 12 hours to start and complete this operation.
I can reach my hand through the radio port and feel the controllers loose from their assemble so I know we have found the problem. I also notice that from time to time when the car is turned off I get a buzzing electrical sound coming from this same area so I am sure there is some sort of bad connection in this same area of the controllers that will need to be fixed.
Is there a web sight I can visit to walk me through the removal of the dash, the reinstallation of the components and the reinstallation of the dash?
Thanks for your imput and please forward all correspondence to my e-mail address.
Regards
ddv

to adjust the flaps. You can make metal reinforcements and rivet/epoxy them to the existing plastic mounts for free that will outlast the car itself. Drop me a note if you're interested; I've done it while changing the heater core on the e32.
