I would shop around, the quote is too high and I'm betting the quote does not include alot of the stuff I listed.
It certainly makes sense to replace alot of needed items while the work is being done, but you should be able to supply many of your own parts - use a mail order house like Eurasian, etc. and save about half.
The dealer I had the work done at did not do a very good job and I had to bring the car back several times for leaks and such. Also left splash guards off and put grease stains on my interior - not my idea of a pro.
Look around, see if you can bring your own parts, and join CCA for labor discount if applicable. You should be able to get the price down considerably from that. I would ask the dealer for hours needed for job and what parts they are replacing - some do not include intake gaskets on their quote. Unless the gaskets are new, I would have them done (mail order ~$375 vs. dealer over $600). Independent shops can be O.K., but make sure they have some experience with the v-12s. Basic quote for having both heads R&Red with parts and labor (machining should add about $500) should be around half of what you were quoted. I'm not sure what else the quote you got included. I never found out with the first quote I got, I towed the car away after paying $75 diagnostic. Maybe they planned on dropping the oil pan for $1000.
Hopefully you have other options in you area. Definitely get other quotes.
Good Luck
