For the last six months or so I have been using only genuine BMW parts from Hendrick BMW in Charlotte. For BMW CCA members they offer a real 25% discount and this means that the genuine BMW parts end up costing about the same as the OEM parts from the parts houses. While the genuine BMW and OEM parts are often similar, there are occasionally significant differences. In the case of the radiator, the genuine BMW part has a metal reinforcing collar inside the plastic openings for the upper and lower radiator hoses. My third party radiator did not have the collars. I noticed this difference when I swapped radiators. As for price, the genuine BMW radiator was quoted at $290 plus with a three day delivery and the third party radiator was $265 with immediate delivery. My significant other's transport requirements determined the decision but now, as they say, I am paying the piper.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the heads up on the drivers side tank.
I know you know alot about these cooling systems
because I've read a lot of your postings.
Can't find any discernible leak but coolant odor
seems to be emitting from this area. I'll check
it out further and give you an update.
Are you going to go with a OEM radiator this time?
Let me know if you think OEM is the only way to
go.
Best Regards,
George
