Access to steering box? (archive)

I planned to tighten the screw on the top of the steering box, but could not reach it without taking a lot of things apart. I could only see the nut with a mirror. The hydraulic reservior is in the way. I really did not have the time to dismantle everything to access it. Plus I lost two hex wrenches into the subframe trying to do it by feel.
Is there a secret to doing this, or does one simply have to remove the reservior to access it?
Thanks,
Lin Gilbert
