Last week I suddenly got a strong vibration from my engine. After a quick check of the engine compartment, I took a very aggressive test ride. (dumb move) When I heard the loud bang and saw a pc fly out from under car I stopped and checked again. It turned out to be broken fan blades causing the vibration from being out of balance.( 5 of 11 blades now broken )I drove home removed fan and ordered a new one.
Well today I recieved the new fan and quickly installed. I checked to make sure nothing was hitting fan and ASSumed the old fan broke from old age.
Took a ride -BANG/BOOM! fan breaks again. Now I have about 5 mls to home. It appears the fan shroud was coming loose from its lower clip at high speeds and hitting fan. Luckily the radiator has survived all this with only minor scars.
An additional problem I see now is that the bearing on the H2O pump is very loose and wobbly. I guess that's the result of driving with the unbalanced fans.

SO, now I need another new fan blade, a new fan shroud, and a new waterpump. I guess I'll change the thermostat and anti freeze too. I just read a post regarding the updating of the cooling system. Please advise me of what needs to be updated at time of pump change.
Any recommendations on where to get these parts?
Is the waterpump a reasonably easy job?
Any special tools required?
Anything else that should be done while I'm in there?
Does the bimmer require any special anti-freeze?
TIA
