Lastly, if you DO try to fix the mechanism on the safety belt, be aware that you are going to need a screwdriver tip that looks like a Phillips head, but rather than having four points, it only has three. Talk about tough to find! I'm sure the use of such an obscure fastener was an attempt by BMW to prevent people from attempting to fix their seat belts, having them not work, and then getting sued.
I finally found this screwdriver tip at an excellent tool store in the Kansas City area (Clarks) and it cost a measly $1.50 for two tips. After much aggravation, I gave up trying to fix it and ordered the part from Eurasian. I was quote $40 at a well-known salvage place, but why by used when you can get it for $35 new? Live and learn.

I have a non-functional center rear seat belt. I'm wondering how to reach the mechanism and replace. Anyone know a good source to pick this item up? Used would be great. Thanks, Steph
