As far as I know (UK SPEC), there is no button on the end of the wiper control stalk, anyone else care to enlighten me.

The wiper control is the upper stalk on your right, the lower right stalk is the cruise control.

To activate wiper wash, just pull the wiper control stalk towards you, if you are in the driver's seat.

If you push it inwards (not forwards) it activates the intensive wash.

My 735i has two wiper wash reservoirs and 0ne intensive wash reservoir. Have you filled all 3 of them?
