Did you get an answer? I've not seen one go that bad, but I suppose it could happen. I replaced the fan clutch on my 1990 750 a couple of months ago, only to find the new one looked and worked just like the old one, and my problem turned out to be the thermostatic sending unit for the electric fan. I believe the old fan clutch is fine, and you are welcome to it for the FedEx charge. Let me know.
Good luck.

When the hydraulic fan drive expires, does it typically make any noise ?
I thought my water pump was u/s but I'm now thinking that it's the fan drive. It wobbles a bit and makes noise, mostly when cold.
