Prone to cracking? Someone's has been feeding you disinformation. The head may crack if you overheat the engine. But, I consider that abuse and not a condition that the engine is 'prone' to suffer. If you have the money and want the power, go for it. Otherwise, 110,000 miles is nothing for a well cared for and maintained engine.

Hey everyone,

I was browsing the metric mechanics page the other day...and became quite curious about their engine transplants...they offer a 3900 HiFlo ST Sport Engine which is equivalent to an old m5 engine...is this an absolutely ridiculous idea (to transplant that into mine)...my engine runs fine but it just has a lot of miles like 110,000 and i've heard that these engines are prone to cracking around 120,000-200,000. Since I love my e32 so much this seemed like the only reasonable alternative to keeping it and upgrading the engine performance at the same time.

What do you guys think about this?
Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thank you.

Šylan
