Ok, my Dad has a 89 735iL and is coming home to FL for the winter. The battery is dead and I need to replace it befroe he gets here. I have an E36 and know it inside out, but cannot for the life of me access the battery under the seat of his car. I dont want to tear it out because I know there are alot of differences with an electric seat in the rear. Mine just pop right out! I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a detailed description of haw to remove it or possibly link me to a page that would explain it thoroughly? Also, if someone could tell me what battery I need to replace it with, that would help a huge amount as well. I searched the archives for info andd found mainly people reporting frequent battery failures, but nothing real descriptive about accessing and changing the battery. I dont frequent this board often, so forgive me if this is a post that you see every other day. Im pretty desperate here and would like to help my Dad out tomarrow after I leave work. I tried jump starting the car and it ran fine, but as soon as I shut down, there is no juice left in the battery. I drove it around town for about an hour, so it SHOULD have come to life, but the battery just didnt hold anything. Thank you all for your help. I (as well as my Dad) really apreciate any info you could give. I hate to see him drop cash at dealerships for such minor problems.
