I think very few head units are compatible with the old pioneer bus. By the time you find one which may be used, you might want to go with a whole new system. If you want a cassette head unit that controls a changer, try the blaupunkt sydney. Crutchfield has a few left. They are out of the Blaupunkt Toronto which is the cd head unit version. You may be able to find it at continental imports. Anyway, this head unit matches the dash and sounds great according to what i've heard on this board. I purchased the toronto and i'm in the middle of a major installation.

89 750iL probably means a Pioneer unit driving the BMW equivalent of the CDX-M30 utilizing a round 13 pin connection at the changer (Pioneer's changer uses a retangular 13 pin connector). Find a head unit compatible with the "M" series changers.

You might want to remove the radio, open it up and clean the volume control mechanisms/circuits with contact cleaner or similiar.

The volume control on the radio to my 1989 735il has decided to take a giant dump. I don't want to replace the radio with a BMW unit. I have the stock CD changer and I want to know what head unit is compatable with it. Any ideas out there?
Thanks much.
