my '93 750iL's air flow seem a little strange, atleast to me at the moment.
In 'auto' setting in cooler temps (16 to 22 degrees) the air flows freely from the front vents in the car (above the radio).
but when i turn the temp up (dual climate control) i no longer get air flow from the front vents, the hot air seems to blow out from the front base where the windshield is (as if its defrosting the front) and from the floor vents
is this normal, the air is warm so the heater works but i think the air is supposed to change directions like this.
If this is not normal what can i do to repair it.
Thanks.
When you have the temp climate control turned to the cooler air positions the air or AC will blow out of the vents above the radio and the side vents by the door which you can adjust the shutters, also out of the rear center vents for the rear passengers. Now when you turn the temp setting more to the heat side then the vents change. The heat then comes out of the door vents for the windows as well as on top for the front windshield defogger, also out of the floor vents both front and rear center. It sounds like your car is working proberly. Get a manual and it will explain.

Yeah ---- mine is the same (88 750iL). You will probably find that in 'auto' mode if you leave it there long enough cool air will come and go out of the facia grilles according to the overall fluctuation of interior temperature.
As was previously suggested, I would agree that your system seems to be working as it should.
