The brake light warning says what? Brake light circuit failure indicates a bad brake light switch. Unrelated to the battery change.

The odometer illumination is a bulb, could be that the fresh voltage from a new battery was enough to kick the bulb over the edge.

I had to replace the battery on my 89 750iL and now the odometer does not show up and the brakelight malfunction light has come on even though they still work. what happened? can i fix it?
