It all depends how well it has been maintained thus far. Look for at least a few years of maint records, and GET A PRE-PURCH inspection from an independent BMW mechanic shop. It will be well worth the $100 or so you spend. If it has self leveling suspension, make sure the shocks feel firm, or it will be a $1000+ repair to get them working right.
