This is usually caused by a faulty "mustard" coloured relay found in the relay box in the engine compartment. The relay coil is heavy and mounted on it's side. After a while the solder joints to the coil frame break because of vibration. If you pull the relay, remove the cover and re-solder all the connections the problem should disappear. When i'm driving at night, I will get a warning on the screen below the speedometer that I have a parking/tail light out, yet when I check it out, I find it not to be true; I used to get a warning on the diagnostic panel of my 87 325e unil I cleaned all the light sockets and standardized the bulbs-does this sound familiar to anyone?
