Just spent a day+ on my drivers door doing a re-key, so here's a word of warning: DO NOT bend
(even slightly) the latch release lever. The latch I'm calling to be the lower bit that actually holds the door closed onto the stricker on the center pillar... the rest (up above) is "the handle bit".

The lever is the one that the door handle hits (the door handle part has the little plastic roller on the end, hits a plate on the end of this lever). I found I'd bend mine because it stops the door staying shut - one light tug and the thing would always pop the latch... it was only bent by about 2mm, and the metal is relatively soft. (You can bend it back, BTW, but it means taking the latch unit out too, and it's not nice to have to take the door apart _AGAIN_).

Maybe not so relevant to your thread but it's right next to the locking lever (the one with the plastic bush and that takes the wire link down from the key), AND it's easy to bend esp. when you are levering against something...

I'd hate anyone to go through the panic I had when I thought I buggered the whole door and made the car undrivable!!! :<
