Hi there everyone. I hope I am not taking up too much board space . . . but does anyone have general tips about the 7-series? Right now I currently own a 1985 325e which I love to death. But right now I am about to upgrade to this beautiful 1993 Alpine White 740il. I already know about the M60 Sulfur problems, but do you guys have anything else major I should look at besides that and the self-leveling suspension? Are there any websites like bmwe30.net(for E30's) I could visit to give me more help? I appreciate any help and I will be scouring through the archives for about the next 2 weeks. Hopefully this car will be turn out to be a non-lemon. If so I will definitely post some pics and maybe make a webpage to fill the 7-series web-presence void. Thank in advance for any help.

As I have told many a prospective e32 owner, the most important thing is to get the right car up front. To do this, you need to not only focus on the engine block and the self leveling suspension, which can both be a problem, but on the entire car. To do this, you will need to do your homework, which it seems that you are doing, and have the car checked out thoroughly by a BMW mechanic, someone who specialized in BMW. Either a dealer or a specialist will do. E32's are complicated machines--the climate control, the various electrical toys, the exhaust system (including the converters), brakes, etc. are all complicated and not cheap to fix. Not to scare you off, because these are absolutely beautiful cars to drive, I love my 740, but you absolutely must have them checked, because they are entirely too expensive to rebuild. It is much cheaper to spend more on the front end, then have these constant niggling problems. Mine has not given me any problems, but it was also a one owner car with all documented maintenance from a dealer. Good luck. And keep in mind, that there are plenty of these for sale, if this one does not check out, there are always others.
