Any ideas on which fuse serves the cd changer? It is not listed in the fuse box list - only number 8 is missing from the box as is and the other fuses seem good. The red light on the eject button on the cd changer in the trunk is not lit and the salesman said to check the fuse? Thanks Jonquil

For all years and engines, F41 (30A) in the rear power distribution box provides power to the CD changer.

In the 1988 - 1990 applications, the power is provided on a RED lead at Pin 3 of the CD changer. This line also supplies "full time" power to the radio (red/wht lead), amplifier (red/wht lead).

In 1991 - 1992, there is an additional 3A fuse (FD) inline with the power to the changer only (radio and amp still powered directly through F41 w/ red/wht leads). The power lead to the changer starting in 1991 is ORG. Bentley doesn't show a location for this fuse, I would suspect it is "near" the connector the plugs into the CD changer.

Then, in 1993 - 1994, FD was deleted, and the changer is again powered direclty from F41, with a red/wht lead.

BTW, Fuse 8 is either "NOT USED" or simply omitted from fuse tables for all models in Bentley.

So what does it all mean?

1.) Check F41 first thing. If it is OK,
2.) If you have a 91 or 92, it might be FD. Since your prior post indicated you have a '93 750iL, you should still consider this... sometimes cutover isn't that clean.
32.) In any event, you need to check the voltage at the CD changer. This is ALWAYS an ORG, RED, or RED/WHT lead. Grounds will be brown or black. There should be 12-14V on this wire at all times.

If you have 12V at the changer, changer might be bad. Re-check the connection just to be sure (wiggle it back into the socket). If you DON'T have 12V at changer AND there is no inline fuse FD (fuse only appears if power lead is ORG color), check power at the radio on the RED/WHT wire (if the radio works, it MAY be just because of the "switched" power... if the radio doesn't hold memory, F41 could be bad, but you already checked that).

By now, (worst case), the radio has power, amplifier works, you have power at the changer, F41 and (if present) FD are OK, and still no lights on CD changer. Probably it's the changer, changer *MIGHT* have an internal fuse, are you brave enough to open it up? What the hell, it's probably busted anyway, right?

Anyway, hope you find this helpful... let us know how it turns out.
