91' 735 tranny went bang says wife (archive)

I was experiencing a vibration and asumed it was the flex disc.My wife was driving it when something broke and made a fairly loud noise. I assumed the disc went but I am now afraid its the tranny. The shaft does not spin and when I shut of the car I hear a slight slow down of a gear whine? Is the output shaft broken?Any insight?Thanks.
