You can replace the led light. Its broken on mine, too, but the mechanic said he would have to make sure it was not an internal problem with the alarm. I did not have time to leave it with him, so maybe later. My remote still works. Did you replace the batteries in the remote? You can buy a new remote unit, but you program it by putting it on the red led, so it has to be working for that. But it seems every year is different, so check with the dealer about your model.

The red LCD indicator on the dash that use to light up when I activated the alarm system stopped working on my 89 735il a couple years ago. The alarm system still works fine. Is the LCD indicator just gone bad or could it be something else? Can it be replaced or tested? My keyless remote control unit also has deteriated to the point that it doesn't work either. Can one buy just this device? Does it have to be programmed to communicate with the remote control system in car?
