Getting rid of the chrome (archive)

Is there any way to get rid of the chrome inserts on the door protector strips that run along the car?
My car has factory dechrome, but for some reason the strips have chrome inserts on them, and I know the dechrome option comes with bodycoloured bumpers and black strips.
I really HATE the chrome.
