- loose belt would caise problems if compressor can't get up to speed; should be noisy (squeal) in my experience with other cars if this is the case...

- is the magnetic clutch engaging? and/or is it being powered (electrically)? If you sre never getting power to the clutch (usually you will notice the engine load-up if it engages at idle) your compressor will never start the refrigeration cycle...

- check ALL the fuses: seems the E32s have fuses for everything, and if you have a failed control curcuit the (OK to work) A/C curcuit will never "get the go-ahead"

- Get the state of the refrigerant checked if you haven't already - pressure, quantity etc

Just some basic ideas for you - maybe they're way off mark, but good luck anyway....
