Oil in Coolant Tank (archive)

My sister has a 91 535i. Has the same engine as my 90 735il. I though I might ask this board since I check it more often. Is there any reason (other than a blown head gasket) that would make oil appear in the coolant tank. I guess it's oil because it has a white milky appearance. Please help!!!!
