Parts are expensive. Testing ourself can save $$$ as BMW still fixes my car but atleast I have an idea of what is wrong.
Take it for a test drive and make sure EVERYTHING is working. Check the hoses for leaks or ware. Yes, all the hoses. Drive it for at least 20 minutes on the road and on the highway. Go up a hill and test the transmission in mountain mode and put it in sport mode on the freeway and floor it. Last I would get a compression test and a safty check at your locak BMW dealer.
Common problems -
A/C needs to be converted if it goes dry.
Fuel lines crack.
Hydrolic pump usually needs replacing.
Transmission either works right or doesn't.
Gas pedel sticks
My car has 132,000 miles and a pleasure to drive.
