Yours has capacitors. When they fail it affects a lot of othere functions on the dash. The reset procedure on your if i recall correctly. You have to remove the tool before shutting of the ignition then shut it off. Turn on and check then.
Hi Matt,

The car is a 1988 750iL. I followed the instruction twice to no avail. Maybe the ignition key possition is wrong or the procedure I am following for that year car is wrong.

Next question - where is the battery on the SI board? I am at home and the shop manual is at work. What is the SI board?
