Hi Geroge,

I removed the balljoints with an air chisel equipped with a pointed bit. Loosen the nut on the balljoint a couple of turns, place the pointed bit of the air chisel in the dimple on the end of the balljoint, then bump away. Usually the second or third time will do the trick and it does not damage the boot on the balljoint. As for the nut on the end of the thrust arm, I ground down a 22mm Craftsman wrench until it would slip onto the nut. I just used the ground down wrench to hold the nut then loosened/tightened the bolt. Yes, you do sacrifice a 22mm wrench but I consider it to be a $10 "custom thrust arm nut removal tool" rather than a ruined wrench. Besides, how many "special" BMW tools only cost $10?

BIG DADDY,
Thanks for the tip on Thrust arm removal.
Where did you get/purchase your ball joint puller?
I understand that not all pullers will work with
these ball joints.
By the way....gotta say, love the name....adds spice to the board...kind of belies the stuffy
Bimmer owner stereotype!
Best Regards,
George
