I am guessing that it is a loss of LCD integrity... the display uses the LCD as a "shutter" to allow the orange backlight through. The crystals themselves could be leaking, or it could be flaking of some "mask" material around the LCDs.

I'm betting it's a replacement of the module, once I find one I'll tear apart the old unit and see what I can see re: the display itself.

Its about -6C in UK right now and my OBC dislay just decided to go wrong. It's not the usual bulb problem, near the left side of the display various spurious blobs have appeared. I guess the display has frozen and bust or just given with age....wanyone else got garbage on their display ?

If it is u/s, can I just replace the lcd bit, I'm handy with electronic repairs...thanks in advance...Paul
