First thought would be to check for a non-BMW alarm or remnant wiring that somehow has butchered the door switches together across the door / trunk segments... FYI, the door switches are in the striker plates and are fairly watertight in my car (87 735i). They are NOT the usual single-wire, body to ground items - and are not all on the same curcuit either - the driver's one seems to have a lot of logic in the general module (locks, LIGHTS ON? message etc) hanging off it...Good luck. Search the site for "schematic diagram" and you might find the message that's got a Russian URL that has the 735 wiring diagrams on it - 35 pages, but would give you an idea to check for switch isolation or not...
