First thought would be to check for a non-BMW alarm or remnant wiring that somehow has butchered the door switches together across the door / trunk segments... FYI, the door switches are in the striker plates and are fairly watertight in my car (87 735i). They are NOT the usual single-wire, body to ground items - and are not all on the same curcuit either - the driver's one seems to have a lot of logic in the general module (locks, LIGHTS ON? message etc) hanging off it...

Good luck. Search the site for "schematic diagram" and you might find the message that's got a Russian URL that has the 735 wiring diagrams on it - 35 pages, but would give you an idea to check for switch isolation or not...
