The E32, at least the US version doesn't have batteries in the instrument assembly, as it uses the main battery 12 volt source. Your problem is likely failed capacitors which are quite readily repairable by someone used to working on electronics, even as a hobbyist. Look in the archives to get some great info on this repair, and upgrade the capacitor specs when you purchase them. This is a great repair, as it almost always fixes the problem, and the 4 or 5 capacitors only cost a couple of bucks. It took me about 2 hours to do the work, including removing the instrument panel and reinstalling. You get the caps at a electronic specialty store or by mail form someone like Mosser in Texas (check their website). Bob H.
