I siphoned out the old fluid out of my 90 750iL. It was red in color and I think was actually Dexron III. The canister is clearly labeled Pentosin CH7.1. I got every drop out possible and filled canister with appx 1.8 liters of green CH7.1. Here's the bitch, I drove about 250 miles at highway speeds and did some family visiting. Got in the car to drive home and now the tranny won't go into lockup. 80mph is 3500rpm. 250 miles like this. Checked fluid levels today. I serviced (fluid and filter change) the trans about 7k ago and the fluid's still fine. THIS IS WHAT GOT ME...the power steering fluid is as red as ever. I realize there was fluid in the ps pump, brake booster and LAD's but I didn't expect it to discolor my green. I guess I'm trying to relate the transmision problem to my power steering. Any suggestions????????
