Can anyone tel me what security devices were fitted as standard to the '88 735i, and how they operate. The reason I'm asking is that my insurance company are asking for proof of installation of an approved device.

Many thanks

In my 88 735i the is something called a antitheft device. When you punch in the code and hit the set button it disables the computer system so that the car won't run. From what the dealer has told me this is a pretty effective theft system.

Carl, as said it is built into the OBC. Just give the insurance co. a zerox copy of the manual that describes the operations/ features. You should be all set with that.
