A good story,

I have a less funny story. I guy passed me in a Golf GTI during very heavy rain on the autobahn.
I was doing about 60mls with my 750i and he above 100mls estimated. 5 minutes later I saw he had run in a guard rail. The laws of physics apply to all of us. More or less.

Regarding Damions post. Contrary to the impression some people across the pond my have. Only on about 3% of our roads there is no speed limit. Lots of autobahn stretches have 62 or 75mph limits. In constructions areas it is either 38 or mostly 50mph. On long declines there are plenty of fixed Radar ot Laser speed traps with nice motorized cameras and IR flashes. Since the police does not have to stop you on the spot they will send you a picture plus a form. Fat chance to win. Speed guns are not to common but light barriers used at a 90 angle to the road plus camera are a pain. There is no warning and there are no counter measures. I used to work in electronic warfare.

BTW there is a good usage for the rear fog lights we all have on our BMWs in Germany: switch them on and it scares away the fast tail gaters. It is not quite legal but sometimes helps.

Wish you good luck avoiding the speed traps. Ekkehart
