It has a cold start sensor that enrichens the fuel supply, similar to a choke. It's probably going bad. Of course, it could be a lot of things, but that's where I'd start. It's easy for the dealer to check, but I don't know any details. I had a similar problem and the dealer mechanic diagnosed and replaced it within an hour or so.
Good luck.

The colder it gets , the harder it is to fire('86 735), I have resorted to starting fluid several times , today it will not start at all , any ideas?
