Point well taken. While $125 to $150 maintenance per month may seem high, it is nothing compared to the payment for a newer 5 or 7 series. In fact, it is nothing compared to the payment for a Taurus or Camry or Accord. My car is my significant other's daily driver but, in four years and 134k miles, it has never let her down. It was only out of commission for two weeks in that period while I changed out the head gasket and had a valve job. No other car I have owned has been as reliable.

Alex

Ive had 2 735is- 91&92 and both cars were a joy to put $$$ in. they mostly have an upscale quality to the ride after you do things to them.--- always feels good to me... and felt better when things were fixed. I had a 99 528i spts package for a year-- It costs less to keep this e32--92 goin good for less than a lease payment and is a better ride.
Also - think of a 91 upsacale american or Japanese car with 100k miles. what would it cost to keep it driving like new? ( even when new the ride was soso compared to a 7 series smiles per mile)
Im toying with gettin an 750 having talked myself into that ,If I get a newer one itll cost less to keep goin (HAHATeeHee)

My opinion on the cost of ownership is this. I bought my car with my little savings and I have the title with no car payments. My Expedition cost close to $500 per month just to own then if something goes wrong that figure just went thru the roof. So I compare what a lease or a payment would cost for a 97 or newer 5 series per month ($700-$1000). I just smile and roll on cause I got a primo car for a 1/3 of the price. So if my 7 is down I can take my time fixing it.
