Check the throttle plug first; make sure it is plugged in. Next be aware that BMWs do a cold engine prime while you are cranking the engine. Sounds like the idle speed switch is not resting and your computer may not be talking with it. The last thing you want to hear is the transmission is not talking to the its computer properly. This is the AEGS program and the box sits under the right hand side kick panel behind the speaker.
