The 750 had dual air intakes on the front valance (the lower plastic "spoiler" just below the fog lights.

The 740 only has one air intake on the valance.

I think (I think) that the 740s use the same hood/grill set-up as the 750s. Here's what I use to quickly tell which model of E32 from the front
(at least in the US).
735i - skinny grill without headlight washer
735iL - skinny grill with headlight washer
740 and 750 - fat grill with headlight washer
I can find no visable difference between the 740's and 750's front end of the same year.
